Whale WatchingYou will leave our dock on Eggemoggin Reach and travel across Jericho and Blue Hill Bays into the Gulf of Maine and the Mount Desert Rock area where you will see Humpback, Fin, Minke, Atlantic Right, and Pilot Whales, as well as seals, porpoises, and puffins. You will observe these beautiful creatures not from a giant oceangoing cattle car with several hundred other passengers, but rather from our fully Coast-Guard-approved and captained thirty-six foot Maine lobster boat, “Miss Moggin”. (weather permitting)

Route: We will travel aboard Miss Moggin from Eggemoggin Reach past Naskeag Point and Swans Island, and out into the deep ocean waters of the Gulf of Maine. We will be accompanied on our trip by seals, porpoises, and a variety of sea birds.
Necessary Gear: Comfortable sneakers or boat shoes, warm clothing (it is normally 20 degrees cooler off shore than it is inland), sunglasses, sun screen, camera, binoculars and a sense of adventure.

Departure time: 10:00 am
Return time: Between 3:30 pm and 4:00 pm.

Alternate day for whale-watching due to weather. Take the day to explore on your own, travel to nearby Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor or just kick back at the lodge and relax.
